Sir John Compton takes the oath of office promising St. Lucians he will fulfill promises made on the campaign trail.
He was sworn in as prime minister of St. Lucia this morning before governor general dame Pearlette Louisy
The swearing ceremony brought to end four days of uncertainty in some constituencies where recounts were ordered and conducted.
Sir John’s united workers party won Monday’s general election with an 11 to 6 majority, bringing an end to the reign of Kenny Anthony’s St. Lucia labour party.
The 82 year old veteran politician said he holds no malice and he called on the people of St. Lucia to help his administration.
It is expected that sir john will name his attorney general by the end of the day and the rest of his cabinet over the weekend.
He told St. Lucians this morning, manifesto promises will be kept.

Sir John let St. Lucia in various incarnations since 1964.
He resigned as prime minister in 1996 and handed over leadership to Dr. Vaughn Lewis under whom the U.W.P. lost the elections to the SLP.
