The President of the Republic is expected back home today.

President George Maxwell Richards will immediately take over from speaker Barrendra Sinanan.

Mr. Sinanan is the Acting President for just a few hours, having taken over from Acting President Danny Montano.

Mr. Montano was acting in the post since President Richards left on vacation.

It is expected that finding a new integrity commission board will be high on the president’s agenda.

He has come under intense fire for his handling of the appointments to the board and its subsequent collapse.

Several individuals and organizations, including the law association, believe the president has brought his office into disrepute, and he should resign.

President Richards has responded to the resignations on the board, apologizing for her errors.

But some say that is not good enough.

However over the past few days the president has been getting support from the secretary general of the Maha Sabha Satnarine Maharaj.

Mr. Maharaj said the president is human and should be expected to make mistakes.

Some have called on the president to respond to the claim of one former board member, who said he was offered the deputy chairmanship but it was instead given to Jeffrey Mac Farlane.

Justice Zainool hosein has said he felt misled by the President.

President Richards was also reported to have dismissed concerns about Father Henry Charles’ plagiarism matter.

Father Charles has said that before he accepted the chairmanship of the integrity commission board, he told President Richards that the plagiarism issue may come up and was told it was okay.
