Five men have been held in connection with the murder of prisoner Peter Garcia.

The men were held yesterday in Sangre Grande as Police continued their investigation into the murder which has shocked many.

Mr. Garcia was shot dead while he was being escorted to the Rio Claro Police Station on Monday.

He had just appeared at the nearby Magistrates’ Court.

The Acting Police Commissioner has vowed to bring those responsible to justice.

James Philbert called Monday a sad day for policing in Trinidad and Tobago.

Two other suspects held overnight are also being questioned about the getaway car used by the killers on Monday.

And yesterday the San Juan Business Association suggested that CCTV cameras be used to help in protecting prisoners and others.

Public Relations Officer of the Association Abraham Ali said a system can be created to avoid such attacks.

Many have been questioning the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Mr. Garcia who was at the time handcuffed and in the company of Police escorts.
