17 Colombian Women Charged With Illegal Entry Into The Country.
December 3rd, 2009.

Seventeen women from Colombia have appeared in court accused of entering Trinidad and Tobago illegally.

Magistrate Marcia Murray yesterday presided over the cases.

The seventeen women were taken to court after an investigation spearheaded by woman Police Constable Hector.

The women are alleged to have arrived in the country on various dates between January and November this year.

It is said that they entered the country at a location other than the port of entry and have failed to report to an Immigration Officer.

The women were held during raids in areas which included Santa Cruz, El Dorado, and Chase Village.

It was a first offence for most of the women, but two of them have been convicted of a similar offence and deported from Trinidad and Tobago in the past.

They went to court on an additional charge.
