Trinidad and Tobago athlete Renny Quow finished third in the men’s 600 Yard Run, at the Millrose Games, in New York, on Friday night.

The 2009 World Championship 400 metres bronze medallist returned a time of one minute, 11.60 seconds.

Also at the Millrose Games, Barbados’ world champion hurdler Ryan Brathwaite was beaten into second and two-time Olympic 200m gold medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown suffered a similar fate.

On a cold night at Madison Square Garden, 21-year-old Brathwaite clocked 7.61 seconds in the men’s 60m hurdles to finish behind American Terrence Trammell who crossed the tape first in 7.49 seconds.

Last year’s world outdoor decathlon champion Trey Hardee finished third in 7.78.

’I’m happy with the win. I did expect to run just a little bit faster,’ said Trammell, who finished second at the Berlin World Championships behind Brathwaite.

Campbell-Brown, meanwhile, posted a time of 7.24 seconds as she finished a close second in the women’s 60m sprint.

The Jamaican finished quickly but ran out of space and time to overhaul resurgent American Lisa Barber who also clocked 7.24.

Two-time Olympian Muna Lee of the United States took third in 7.25 seconds.

’This is my first race.

I’m not too happy with the time, but I was up against the best in the world and I wanted to get a win,’ said Barber who is coming off injury.

Guyana’s Aliann Pompey had to settle for the runner-up position in the women’s 400m.

The 31-year-old Pompey clocked 55.19 seconds to finish behind American Monica Hargrove who posted 55.07 to win the event.

Jamaican Sheree Francis gave the Caribbean its only victory of the meet when she captured the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.88m.

The American duo of Raevan Harris (1.85m) and Priscilla Frederick (1.75m) finished second and third, respectively.

And Antiguan sprinter Daniel Bailey was disappointing in the men’s 60m sprint, finishing fourth in 6.63 seconds.
