NAPA Report Scandalous Says Culture Minister. |
March 17th, 2010.
Culture Minister Marlene Mc Donald believes claims of major flaws at the National Academy for the Performing Arts are nothing but political mischief.
President of the Artists Coalition of Trinidad and Tobago Rubidari Victor has been circulating a document citing several faults at the multi million dollar arts facility.
Minister Mc Donald yesterday accused Mr. Victor of mischief and being Anti-Government.
At a Media Conference she said Mr. Victor has been on a drive to derail the construction of the building even before it began.
Ms. Mc Donald finds it strange that Mr. Victor would say that NAPA has so many flaws yet he has been seeking to rent the facility.
She slammed the Media and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar, for not consulting with her Ministry or the Urban Development Corporation which constructed NAPA, before reporting on the issue.
Ms. Mc Donald said her Government is not aware of the 80 million dollars for refurbishment works on the floors of NAPA that Mr. Victor has spoken about.
She said NAPA has a six month soft testing period and that time period is not yet completed.
Ms. Mc Donald said he owes the country an explanation.
