T&T beat Jamaica by 49 runs.

Trinidad and Tobago beat Jamaica by 49 runs to top group A in the WICB T20 competition last night in a thoroughly entertaining match for the home fans that packed the Queen’s Park Oval.
Jamaica won the toss and sent in T&T after the 9 pm start was delayed by an hour due to heavy afternoon rain and the overs were reduced to 18. T&T reached 157 for 7 with Darren Bravo top scoring with a stylish 65 after they were in some early trouble. Chrismar Santokie was Jamaica’s leading bowler with 5 for 24.
T&T were struggling on 3 for 24 when bravo came in to bat and he shared two good partnerships of 34 and 69 respectively with Captain Darren Ganga 17 and his brother Dwayne who made 28.
Bravo faced 44 balls and smashed 4 fours and three sixes.
In reply Jamaica without Chris Gayle was bowled out for 108 with opener Xavier Marshall leading the way with 25. Dwayne Bravo, Sherwin Ganga and Kieron Pollard all took two wickets apiece.
Earlier the first game between Canada and the Leeward Islands had to be abandoned because of the rain.
Later today from 4 pm Barbados clash with Guyana to decide the winner of group b while CCC play the Windwards for pride from 8 pm.
The semifinals will be contested on Friday with the final on Saturday. All matches are being played at Queen’s Park Oval.
