...is affecting local restaurants and bar owners who complain they are unable to stock up for the profitable Christmas season.

The company is a subsidiary of the Trinidad and Tobago based Ansa Mcal conglomorate.

Nearly 100 workers walked off the job on Monday and president of the techinical and allied workers union Chester Humphrey says "he understands the negotiatiors will come from Mc al." Mr Humphrey says "the principal negotiators are somewhere out in Europe and trying to get a flight to come to Grenada."

T.A.W.U is seeking a 7% salary increase for the workers but the GBL is offering 2.7%. Labour commissioner Cyrus Griffith has called on the workers to return to their duties but Mr Humphrey says "the employees have rejected the plea in a ballot."
