Arts Minister defends fee for bandleaders

Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Winston ‘Gypsy’ Peters defends the move by the National Carnival Bandleaders Association to charge a fee for participants in this year’s parade of the bands.
The newly initiated participation fee for all carnival bands, individuals and kings has met with serious opposition from members of the fraternity.
At today’s post cabinet news conference, Minister Peters said the National Carnival Bandleaders Association has the right to implement the fee.
The association has said the fee will be mandatory as of this year.
