Among them are Cro Cro, Luta, Chalkdust and Sugar Aloes. The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) revealed the names of the semi-finalists at a news conference this afternoon. All-rounder, Maria Bhola, Tigress, Alana Sinette, Lesley Ann Ellis and recently crowned calypso queen Fire Empress are among the semi-finalists. Stinger, Duane O’Conner, Crazy, Bally, Kizzy Ruis, De Fosto , Bunny B, Nicole Thomas, Revealer and Calypso Prince are in. Also included are Protector, Michelle Henry, Brian London, Contender, Lady Adana, Queen Victoria, Tiny, Burt Ross and Karen Eccles. The names were read out by president of TUCO, Lutalo Masimba. Mr. Masimba also named Devon Eeales, Duane O’Connor, Heather McIntosh, Singing Sandra, Crazy and Allrounder. Brian London is also in the semi-finals and reserves are Black Sage and Kwesi Jeffers. The calypso fiesta will be held at Skinners Park in San Fernando this Saturday. Following the announcement, the TUCO president said more money is needed for stake holders to market the art form. Mr. Massimba said calypso must be projected as a serious money earner and the notion dispelled that calypsonains rely soley on state funding. He said it is an issue which TUCO has been concerned about for some time.
